阻燃剂其本功能在于干扰氧、热和可燃物这三个维持燃烧的基本要素。

4）阻燃剂捕捉性自由基，中断链式氧化反应。

对一种塑料而言，选择阻燃剂时需考虑以下几个方面；
1）阻燃效果符合要求，热稳定性好；
2）与塑料相容性好，迁移小；
3）对塑料的物理-力学性能等影响小；
