Flame retardant fabrics Because almost all textile materials will burn when they encounter a fire source,

Flame retardant grade flame retardants can interfere or alter the decomposition process of fabrics in several ways:

(1) The flame retardant melts at relatively low temperatures and then re-solidifies into a foam, thus creating a barrier that prevents heat transfer from the flame to the fabric.

(2) When the flame retardant fabric agent is heated, it will decompose into acid or alkali, and these acids or alkalis can catalyze the decomposition of the fabric at a temperature lower than the temperature that can generate volatile combustibles.

(3) The flame retardant will decompose or sublime when heated, and at the same time release a large amount of incombustible gas, which prevents the supply of oxygen to the flame.

(4) The flame retardant can react with the chemical substances in the flame to terminate the combustion reaction.


Most textile flame retardants alter or interfere with the normal thermal decomposition process of polymers (fabrics).

The flame retardant in the solid matrix (here is the fabric) can reduce the decomposition temperature of the fiber, change the generation and amount of the generated flammable gas,


They can also function in the gaseous state. For example, compounds containing phosphorus can be converted into acidic species,
